DC-CDI anatomy

This are some DC-CDI opened black boxes with its epoxy filled removed, and to understand and be familiar with each CDI being offered in the market, i may say some are almost identical and some are too complex to experiment with.

Here, a DC-cdi picture from whom an emailer sent to me and asking for some help. credit to you and thanks, I labeled this in order for others to understand which is which and what to look for.

Looking at the picture, whenever you find an e-core, torroidal transformer, rest assure its a DC-CDI and not an AC-CDI, for that transformer s a component for DC-Dc converter to where the source voltage will be step-up for an ignition to work, there's the pulse shaping area that capture signal from pick-up coil, clean it then send trigger to the SCR at the right moment dumping energy of the capacitor to the primary winding of the ignition coil, generating magnetic field transferred to secondary winding down to the high tension and arcing the spark plug inside the combustion chamber.

Almost all of this CDI acts the same, the only difference is the way how the captured pulses form the pick-up coil will be delayed by the pulse shaping circuits to have what we called ignition mapping. that is why there are lots of CDI as programmable, here to change that map for performance, driveability, POWER...like this photo as shown..
